The Department is responsible for promoting the health and safety of members through effective occupational and environmental management practices. Health and Safety provides services such as the consultation, recognizing and controlling of health and safety hazards, and leadership in the areas of the treatment of occupational illness and injuries, safety (fire, biological, chemical, facility and equipment), employee safety training programs, research, and the payment and adjudication of worker’s compensation claims. We also cater for medical surveillance - exchanging information with other established Labour organizations on chronic diseases like cancer and HIV and AIDS - and environmental monitoring.

Our goal is to provide responsive service and critical support to ensure that the zimratu community is afforded the maximum safe and healthy environment in which to work, and live.
